NTA will soon start the NEET UG counselling 2024. During hearing, National testing agency has inform to supreme court that they starts the registration on 24 July and begins counselling. The detailed schedule of counselling will soon release. The official notice of counselling has been released on the portal, and the MCC(Medical Counselling Committee) has requested medical colleges to give the seat matrix for the MBBS course by 20 July. There are the total 1,09,145 MBBS and 27,868 BDS seats are released for counselling. There are more 1,000 BSc Nursing seats are also released for students, that they can get through the counselling process.

So, the students who pass their NEET exam are qualified for the counselling process and then get admission to medical courses. There are multiple rounds conducts in counselling process to give seats to students in medical courses  in various courses. To appear in the counselling process, students need to register for it, pay some fees and meet the eligibility criteria given here.

MCC NEET UG 2024 Counselling Overview

NTA conducts the NEET 2024 exam on 5 May. Lakhs of students appear in this exam. They have already announced the results on 4 June. Now, it is time of counselling process. MCC has released the list of colleges that give this opportunity to students to get their seats in medical colleges.

The registration for NEET counselling has started on 24 July and continue till the rounds of process completes. MCC under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) is responsible to oversee the counselling process of students.

NEET 2024 Counselling schedule

NEET UG 2024 counselling has started from 24 July, and remains continue till the next months. There are multiple rounds conducted in this process, through which the students get seats in medical colleges. Types of NEET UG 2024 Counselling

NEET UG 2024 counselling process consists of various sessions for the successful admissions of students. Here are its three types

All India quota (AIQ) counselling

AIQ counselling has conducted by Medical counselling committee. It allot the 15% of seats to students in government medical colleges in India. This process consists 4 rounds, two initial rounds, one mop-up round for candidates who appear in the first two rounds, and stay vacancy rounds to give seats to candidates on the waiting list. 

State quota counselling

State authorities manage the state quota counselling process. It allocates seats in private and government medical colleges in every state. There are multiple rounds in this round to ensure the equal distribution of seats among candidates.

AYUSH counselling

AYUSH counselling process is for those who wants to secure admissions in AYUSH courses, like BUMS, BAMS, BSMS, and BHMS. AYUSH admissions central counselling committee has conducted this process and gives a structured pathway to candidates to get admission in medical courses. This process is important for candidates who want to secure seats in colleges in the country. Every session of this process allots seats to candidates according to their courses.

Eligibility Criteria

NTA has set the eligibility criteria for students that they should meet to become eligible for the counselling process. Here are the NEET UG eligibility standards

Qualifying marks

  • The candidate of the general category must achieve the minimum 50th percentile in this exam.
  • The candidates of the SC/ST/OBC category should achieve at least the 40th percentile.
  • Candidates of benchmark disabilities should achieve the minimum 45th percentile to become eligible for the counselling process.

Nationality

Indian nationals, foreign nationals, OCIs, NRIs, and PIOs are eligible to appear in the counselling process.

Cut off

NTA has release the cut off for candidates, that decide their eligibility. Cut off determines the 85% state quota and 15% all India quotes seats. Candidates should meet the cut off eligibility or exceed this percentage to become eligible for it.

Reservation for MBBS and BDS admissions

The candidates of reserved categories get the reservation for securing seats in medical courses through this counselling process. The seats are reserved according to categories, as per the government rules as follows as

To register for the NEET UG counselling, candidates need to meet their eligibility and have the following documents.

  • Admit card
  • Rank letter
  • NEET 2024 scorecard
  • Class 10 mark sheet
  • Class 12 mark sheet
  • ID proof ( Aadhar card/PAN card/Passport/driving license)
  • Passport size pictures
  • Provisional allotment letter
  • PwD Certificate
  • Caste certificate

The candidates who are in the NRI and OCI categories should have some additional documents, as given below.

  • Embassy certificate
  • Passport copy of the sponsor
  • Relationship Affidavit ( to show the relationship between sponsor and candidate
  • Sponsorship Affidavit ( show sponsor commitment to cover expenses for study duration)

How to Apply for NEET 2024 Counselling Online

Here is the step-by-step process you should follow to register for NEET UG counselling 2024

  • Browse the MCC website, https://mcc.nic.in/
  • Tap on a menu option to open the navigation menu
  • Tap on ” UG medical” from the menu
  • Go to “ Important Links” and tap on it
  • Find and tap on the ” Registration” link
  • Enter the basic information required in the NEET registration form
  • Follow all instructions shown on the screen and complete your registration process
  • Once you registered, move to the choice filling and locking stage
  • Choose college in which you want to get admission, and choose a course on the basis of availability and your eligibility
  • After completing your choices, lock the selections to confirm your choice
  • Tap on the submit button and successfully register for the NEET counselling process
